Build your application. Orbit OS handles the platform.

Build Embedded Linux Products.
Without the Complexity.

Orbit OS is an embedded Linux platform that makes it simple to build, deploy, update and manage connected products.

Get started

Every embedded project
reinvents the same infrastructure.

GPIO handling. Networking. Remote access. OTA updates. Application lifecycle. APIs.

Teams repeatedly rebuild the same platform layer instead of focusing on their product.

Orbit OS removes that burden.

It provides a complete runtime platform — from low-level device control to secure connectivity, centralized application management, controlled resource access, and OTA updates for both system and applications.

Instead of stitching infrastructure together, teams focus on what actually matters: building the logic that differentiates their product.

Built like Android.
Designed for Embedded Linux.

Android showed how Linux could become a complete application platform for mobile. Orbit OS brings the same platform mindset to Embedded Linux products.

Gravity RT is the core execution layer of Orbit OS. It orchestrates applications, hardware access, and system services within a unified runtime environment. Every interaction with the device passes through a controlled API layer with strict authentication and policy enforcement. See the full platform comparison →

One runtime. All hardware.

Access and control your device from any language, locally or remotely.

One API for all hardware

Device capabilities are exposed as unified APIs — locally or remotely. GPIO, PWM, I²C, SPI, UART, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth behave consistently across all devices.

Security by default

Every connection is encrypted and authenticated. Orbit OS verifies every caller before granting access — no open ports, no implicit trust. Built for secure industrial deployments.

Isolated applications

Applications run in isolated environments and communicate through defined interfaces. Faulty apps are automatically restarted by the runtime to maintain system stability.

Atomic system updates

Safe, atomic updates with rollback to a known-good state. Update devices in the field with protection against incomplete or failed updates.

Multi-language SDK

Build applications in Go, Python, or Java. Applications are packaged into a unified .orb format for consistent deployment across all Orbit OS devices. C++ support is planned for Q4 2026.

Real-time development

Develop against real hardware without deploying first. Run applications from your laptop while interacting with device peripherals in real time using the same SDK and APIs.

Edge-ready runtime

Optimized for embedded and edge systems. Lightweight runtime services enable modern application patterns on resource-constrained devices.

Deploy once. Manage the lifecycle remotely.

The Orbit OS Store is more than an app catalog. It is part of the platform lifecycle — distributing signed applications, managing versions, delivering updates, and handling OTA upgrades across connected devices.

Secure distribution

Applications are distributed through a centralized store over secure connections and verified before execution.

Verified packages

Apps are packaged in .orb format and cryptographically verified before installation or update.

Atomic updates

Installations and updates are transactional — they either complete fully or roll back automatically to a safe state.

Fleet lifecycle management

Your application can be updated remotely as part of the platform — the store manages full application and system lifecycle, including automatic updates, version control, and OTA upgrades across your entire device fleet.

Orbit OS, in your pocket

The official Orbit OS mobile app puts your devices at your fingertips — manage them, install apps remotely, and get push notifications the moment something needs your attention.

Even mobile notifications become a platform capability — apps send them via MobileNotificationService, without having to build your own notification backend, push infrastructure, or mobile application.

Remote access too: Orbit Connect, free in the Store, gives each device its own private link — reach it from anywhere, with no VPN, no open ports and no router changes.

Talk to your device like an API

Connect from any machine. Control hardware. In any language.

// Connect — UDS on-device or TCP remotely, same API
device, _ := sdk.NewClientAuto(DEVICE_IP_ADDRESS)
defer device.Close()

// GPIO — set direction and drive a pin high
led := &sdk.GpioPin{Name: "GPIO17"}
device.GpioManager.SetDirection(led, sdk.GPIO_DIR_OUT)
device.GpioManager.SetLevel(led, sdk.GPIO_LEVEL_HIGH)

// PWM — 1 kHz signal at 50% duty cycle
channels, _ := device.PwmManager.ListChannels()
device.PwmManager.SetPwm(channels[0], 0.5, 1000.0)

// UART — open ttyAMA0 at 115200 baud and send a command
port, _ := device.UartManager.Open(sdk.UartConfig{
    Port:     "ttyAMA0",
    Baudrate: 115200,
    DataBits: 8,
    Parity:   sdk.UartParityNone,
    StopBits: sdk.UartStopBits1,
})
port.Write([]byte("AT\r\n"))
port.Close()

// I²C — scan bus and read a sensor register
bus, _  := device.I2CManager.Open(1, 100000, false, false)
data, _ := bus.Transfer(0xA0, []byte{0x00}, 2, 0)

// SPI — open spidev0.0 at 1 MHz and do a full-duplex transfer
spi, _  := device.SpiManager.Open(0, 0, 1000000, 8, 0, false)
data, _ := spi.Transfer([]byte{0xAA, 0xBB}, 2)

Orbit OS isn't just software

Turn dedicated hardware into first-class Orbit OS products. Certification means Gravity RT has validated the device end-to-end — hardware access, board profile, OTA, and the platform trust chain — so it's ready to be the foundation of a real product. Manufacturers can also use the certification program to bring their own hardware into the ecosystem.

Example domains

Energy monitoring Solar monitoring Irrigation Industrial gateways AI vision Building automation IoT gateways

One platform. Many products.

Orbit OS is not only a platform for third-party developers. It is also the technology stack we use to build our own embedded products. The same runtime, APIs, SDKs, security, Store, OTA, device management, mobile integration, developer tools, and certification infrastructure are reused across products.

Product Factory The same platform stack powers every product built on it — including our own
